Welcome to my blog about online learning!
Please use the links at the top of the page to learn more about its history, purpose, hardware/software requirements, and Web 2.0 technologies. On the Blogging page, you can add your own comments and communicate with others about this emerging trend. Online learning is a type of distance learning that requires the use of the Internet or telecommunication technologies to research, investigate, communicate and collaborate. This form of learning accommodates individuals who have busy schedules, are working full-time, and are raising families. It also promotes lifelong learning by making it easier to return to school and earn a degree.
Students will generally use online software, such as Blackboard and Classroom 2.0, to access course content and to communicate with their instructor and other students. Typically, online courses take advantage of many types of technology and social media to promote learning. For example, many online courses utilize blogs, podcasts, Twitter, and Facebook. As a result, these courses encourage collaboration among students and between students and their instructors.
